Written by MowDIRECT Editorial Team on March 11, 2008 – 4:46 pm -These new lawnmowers from McCulloch have just been launched on the MowDIRECT site and they really do represent three very good buys. First there is a very competitively priced petrol rear roller lawnmower with self-propelled drive which comes in well below the £300 mark. Secondly from McCulloch there is a petrol lawnmower with electric key start - a feature that is becoming harder and harder to find on a lawnmower. And thirdly, for large lawns, there is an extremely powerful McCulloch high wheel lawnmower with 3-in-1 cutting ability. We’ll review each lawnmower in turn but before we do so some information about McCulloch itself. Read more »

Mulching Lawn Mowers - the modern way to mow your lawn?
Written by MowDIRECT Editorial Team on January 25, 2008 – 12:45 pm -First of all what exactly is mulching? In lawn mowing terms, mulching can be defined as the process whereby lawn cuttings are recycled and returned to the turf in the form of tiny fragments of grass. These recycled fragments then act as protective ‘mulch’ and help to conserve soil moisture, prevent weed growth and moderate soil temperature. As a result, lawns where mulching is applied tend to be healthier, greener and suffer less from disfiguration during drier weather. Read more »

This brand new line-up of lawnmowers has been specially engineered for today’s homeowner and there are some unique features which make these lawnmowers of particular interest. So who are IBEA? Lawnmowers for small, medium and large lawns: Review of self-propelled four-wheel petrol lawnmowers
Written by MowDIRECT Editorial Team on January 23, 2008 – 3:25 pm -In this review we shall be looking specifically at petrol self-propelled four-wheel lawnmowers and covering which models are suitable for different size lawns. A quick point to begin with: what do we mean by a small or medium or large-sized lawn? After all, a medium to large sized garden in an urban area would probably be considered pretty small by rural standards. To avoid any initial confusion let us begin by defining lawn size areas. For the purpose of this review a small lawn is any area up to around half a tennis court or so in size whilst a medium sized lawn will be viewed as a lawn between around one half and 2 tennis courts in size. Large sized lawns are considered to be between 2-4 tennis courts in size. Read more »

Things to do in your garden in January: Rolling your lawn.
Written by MowDIRECT Editorial Team on January 14, 2008 – 1:06 pm -Now is an excellent time to begin preparing your lawn for the start of the mowing season in a month or two’s time - and lets face it with the increasingly milder winters we’ve experienced in recent years that first cut seems to get earlier and earlier. Indeed one or two of our customers have reported in recent years that they are now mowing virtually all year round. That reminds me, I remember being interviewed by a newspaper a few years ago for an article they were writing on the effects of global warming in the garden. Read more »
