Hi all.
There has been an ongoing bone of some contention between me and the boys recently (and when I say boys I am being slightly insouciant as I am referring to Dick and Drew, whose combined age probably looks like a phone number). However, the contention is down to the following. I have been trying to get them to make some link between scaring and scarifying, pointing out that as a ‘gardening and calendar event’ kind of pun it is up there with the best and they should be using it for halloween. They don’t seem to agree.
Dick, in fact, insists on writing these earnest – if incredibly useful and accurate – blogs about sweepers and mowers and such, full of detail and homespun gardening wisdom and truisms (damn him) and Drew vacillates between his own laconic style of blogging about garden equipment (complete with a shed-full of puns might I add) and wildly fanciful stories involving beer, his neighbours or his long-suffering wife.
They both seem to think that scarifying, especially with the ever popular Einhell GC-SC 2240P petrol scarifier is far too sombre a subject to be making puns and jokes out of. They take it all very seriously.
Well. So be it. I shall be creating a full-on Halloween blog for next Tuesday but you, and they, will have to wait and see what it is. I shall not, in deference to my esteemed colleagues and their ganged up testosterone, make any puns about scarifying or Einhell, despite the obvious jokes that are standing there desperate to be used like casual workers in the dustbowls of 1930s America. No scarifying puns. OK?
Instead, I shall take a fallen leaf out of their own books and mention that a friend of mine recently bit his own gardening bullet and bought himself one of these machines.
