Sooner or Later You’ll Buy a Hayter – In Praise of a Great British Mower

My very good friend and bon viveur extraordinaire, Monsieur Dick Roberts was, as usual, in nail on head hitting form yesterday with his timely wee blog, praising and pointing out the benefits of a certain Hayter Mower, the Hayter Osprey 46 Push 3-in-1 Lawnmower (Code: 610A)

Why timely? Well, firstly because in these financially uncertain times, it is an amazing bargain at £249, saving a not-to-be-sniffed-at £50 and secondly, and by no means leastly, because Hayter highlights and personifies out all that is best in British manufacture at time when we need to hear it.

There is an old Hayter slogan that goes “sooner or later, you’ll buy a Hayter” and when you try out one of their machines you can clearly see why. What is more interesting than that though is my old maxim “Sooner or later, you won’t let go of your Hayter until it falls apart from old age and then you are probably going to buy another one anyway”… not quite as neat and nifty as phrases go but true nonetheless. When it comes to ownership and replacement, Hayter owners are a fiercely loyal lot and are not ashamed to tell you about it… “My first Hayter. Won’t be my last.”

They do like to tell you how good they think these mowers are, which is no bad thing, and Hayter owners and customers’ comments range from the, maybe not quite as erudite as the late great Oscar Wilde but down to earth…”If you need a good mower buy one of these” to the creative and fanciful… “A Rolls Royce for My Lawn“, to the positively fanatical…”My father used to have a Harrier which was fantastic but it only lasted TWENTY FIVE years… It is absolutely brilliant!!…Thanks Hayter for maintaining your high standards…I’m sixty eight but I’ll buy another Harrier in 25 years!”

There is a reason for all this praise and enthusiasm though. It’s this…wait for it…Hayter mowers really are good. Hayter has been delivering crowd-pleasing lawn mowing excellence for more than 70 years and they aren’t about to stop anytime soon. The ‘new improved’ range of Hayter Harrier 41 mowers that were introduced this year are proof of that.

They are premium quality products, resplendent in the classic British Racing Green livery that typifies much of Great British engineering history, and they are designed and built, with a great attention to detail and a keen eye on quality control, using a mixture of traditional skills and the latest groundbreaking technology.

Hayter creator – Engineer and Inventor Douglas Hayter

They are hand assembled, with many models being made at Hayter HQ, Spellbrook in Hertfordshire, the home of the Inventor and engineer Douglas Hayter, who started the company in the 1940s.

Hayter lawn mowers are bought and used by both domestic and professional gardeners, loved for the smart and sharp stripes they create on the lawn, for their build, features and durability.

So why not buy yourself and piece of quality and history, have a look at our whole range of great Hayter mowers.

And if you need some advice on models, features or just about anything else Hayter or garden machinery related, give our superb product advisors a call on 0345 4588 905 (9am-5pm Mon-Fri & 10am-4pm Sat)  They will offer you free, impartial expert advice and customers are almost as enthusiastic about them as they are about Hayter mowers.

First class product, advice & customer service… I would not hesitate recommending this machine or MowDirect to anyone who loves gardening as much as I do” P.C.

Enjoy your garden.     Drew Hardy.
