Best-selling lawn tractor for three years running with £200 off the listed price

Lawn tractors are increasingly popular with house owners with even a smaller lawn as they have so many more uses than simply cutting the lawn.

With a tow hitch and trailer they can be used for all the heavy lifting and carting jobs, with a leaf sweeper they are a godsend in the autumn when the fall sets in.

And the list goes on to include garden rollers, lawn rakes and so on, turning your ride-on mower into a multi-season workhorse and adding value.

But as a mower of large areas of grass they are an essential, unless you want to invest in a few sheep.

This is one of the most popular, and has been Britain’s best-selling lawn tractor for three years running.

The Mountfield 1530M Lawn Tractor can handle areas up to 5000m2 as it has an 84cm cutting width so you can cut really large areas very quickly.

And it is a great machine when it comes to wet grass as it won’t leave unsightly clumps of clippings.

This is because it has twin blades which develop powerful air currents under the cutting deck and force the cut grass into the grass box which holds 240 litres.

And when this is full it bleeps at you; and it can be emptied without leaving the driver’s seat thanks to a neat telescopic handle.

When it comes to cutting performance it will trim down to 25mm and up to 80mm.

Under the bonnet is a 452cc engine giving plenty of power and designed to give a long life and keep vibration and fuel use to a minimum.

There are five forward and one reverse gears and you fire it up by turning a key – no starter ropes to pull.

Chunky tyres won’t damage the lawn and will give excellent grip, there is a pair of headlights so you can work when it gets a bit murky and it has a very comfortable seat.

You can buy a deflector kit for cutting longer grass and a mulch plug as optional extras as well as a tow bar.

Recent customers’ comments are here. One said ‘Came all assembled just had to hook up the grass collecting bag add some petrol and away I went. Should have bought a sit on years ago. Now have more time to sit in the garden and read my book.’
