New wave of plant theft sweeps UK

New wave of plant theft sweeps UK<br>
Many issues face gardeners in the summer, as it is one of the busiest times of year and there is a great deal of work to be done with the garden tools.

However, a new study has confirmed that there is a new problem facing green-fingered Brits up and down the country – theft.

Conducted by More Than, the survey found that one in five gardens in the UK have been pilfered from by thieves.

Pot plants, hanging baskets and expensive trees are just some of the things they are targeting, with an average of £72.21 worth of items being lifted per raid.

Managing director of More Than Janet Connor acknowledged that creating a beautiful outdoor space is not a cheap endeavour.

"All the hard work and money spent on creating a lovely outdoor space can be ruined overnight if the garden is an easy target for thieves," she commented.

Her organisation advised taking action such as investing in bigger items that are easier to steal and planting in deeper holes so they are much more difficult to take.
