The manufacturing history of Murray stretches back to 1919 when it began producing spare parts for the car industry. It later became known as a manufacturer of low cost bicycles and the first Murray ride-on lawn mowers were being produced by the company in the late 1960s. An American company based during the post-War period in Brentwood, Tennessee, Murray was for a time in the eighties and nineties British owned and became one of the most popular ride-on brands in the UK. Since 2005 Murray has been owned by American manufacturer Briggs & Stratton, the world's largest producer of air cooled four-stroke engines for outdoor power equipment. Briggs & Stratton has been established since 1908. It designs, manufactures and markets generators, pressure washers, snow throwers, lawn and garden powered equipment (riding and walk behind mowers, tillers, chipper-shredders, leaf blowers and vacuums) and related accessories worldwide. 3-in-1 Cutting System. The Murray Mid-Engine Rider has a 3-in-1 cutting system making it extremely versatile. As well as a traditional collection system, this model easily adapts into a mulching mower saving on the need for having to dispose of large amounts of clippings as the grass cutting a cut and re-cut into small piece before being forced back into the turn out of sight where they act as a natural fertilizer. For more overgrown areas where collection or mulching isn't practical, there is also a side-discharge facility.
Briggs & Stratton Engine. All Murray ride-on mowers come equipped with reliable Briggs & Stratton engines. The 10.5 hp OHV model fitted to the Murray Mid-Engine Rider has an Anti-Vibration System for quieter operation. 
Tight Turning Circle. The Murray Mid-Engine Rider has an extremely tight turning circle. This enables you turn quicker when mowing up and down as well as making it possible to cut right up to the border when mowing around trees and other obstacles.
